Over de kunstenaar

In my artistic practice I search for the intensity of experience, which I often encounter in works of an ephemeral and immaterial nature, such as performances. A joyful and productive part of my work is made up of the exchange of ideas with others and the immersion in other disciplines. Until today this has been supported and sustained by international important institutions that focus their attention on the creative process and multidisciplinary research, such as the American Academy in Rome, the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, Columbia University in New York together with ISCP - International Studio & Curatorial Program.
With motivation I have driven forward an autonomous art research that has lead to a series of videos and performative works, in addition to a recent experience with installations. During this itinerary, I have searched to show full knowledge and awareness of the used means and languages - of image, sound and forms of perception - which I have translated and narrated, mostly concentrating on the research-process.
In 2014 I have presented my work for the first time in a Flemish context, at Next Festival, Buda 2014. In that occasion I presented the performance Gold. For the production of the performance The forgetting of air I was supported between 2015 and 2016 by Vooruit for residency-periods. I have shown my film Oro in the exhibition Murmur, Netwerk – Aalst,
Belgium curated by Els Silvrants-Barclay and Pieter Vermoortel, in 2017.
I have had the opportunity to display my performances and artworks in diverse forms, which reach from visual art to experimental theatre, and in different venues, which go from museums to hybrid spaces. The most important experiences in my career were a 3 years long performance, Family, at Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (2015-2017); The forgetting of air performance at Maxxi Museum, Rome (2016) ; viceversa, Italian Pavillon at Venice Biennal (2013) ; 47, performance at Madre Museum of Naples (2012); the solo show, The conversation at MAMBO Museum of Bologna (2010); The group show Sleepover at Serpentine Gallery of London (2009) and the collaboration with Anawana Haloba for the site specific installation for Manifesta 7 – The rest of now, Alumix (2008).
I have been shown my performances at important international Institutions such as Palais de Tokyo, (Paris, 2017); Saal Biennal (Tallin, 2019); Foundation Serralves, (Porto, 2017); Kusthalle Osnabrueck (Germany, 2017), Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, (Torino, 2017), and I was an associated artist of Santarcangelo Festival for 2017-2019, under the artistic co-direction of Eva Neklyaeva and Lisa Gilardino.
In the past I have also participated in many international Performing Art Festivals such as: Baltic Circle 2019, Helsinki – Homus Novus Festival 2016, Riga - Drodesera Festival,(Centrale Fies) 2006-2013, Italy - Mantica 2012 (Cesena), Italy- Roma Europa Festival 2013(Rome), Italy - Tupp Festival 2010,(Uppsala) - Rencontres Choregraphiques (Paris) 2010.
