Carianne Wijffels takes you to five studios around Deurne

Which studios would you visit?" In a flood of about 1500 studios, making choices can get more difficult. Therefore, not Kunstwerkt, but six participating artists solve the question. The result? An equal amount of routes along studios worth visiting. In this article graphic designer Carianne Wijffels leads you around Deurne.

On Carianne Wijffels

Inspired by design, atmosphere and blurring boundaries, Carianne searches for layering and tactility in paper. Through meticulously carved paper cuts, underlying forms and layers become visible.
Together with Erika Verhoeven, she resides in Atelier Kjøper. Like Carianne, she is very interested in matter. Erika works a lot with wood (woodcuts, woodcuts on wood) and copper.

Esther Fonteyn

Carianne: “The story behind the creation of Bush Bush already sounds very warm and interesting. I would love to visit the studio to see the space where much attention has been paid to the large window constructions. How these were created and the effect of the glass in all its nuances. Furthermore, I am very curious about the welded designer furniture with its sober, clean design and colourful details.”

Studio PART

Carianne: “Since I started working with sculpture, I have been very interested in three-dimensional design of all kinds of materials. The beautiful design and the purity of the materials are two elements that immediately appeal to the online presentation of the studio. I also find it interesting to see all the tools and machines that help create these forms/furniture.”

3

Lander Daniels

Carianne: “The powerful black-and-white images appeal to me a lot and demand to be looked at closely. They invite you to let your mind wander and go back home with a lot of stories. Furthermore, I am curious about the size of the works and how this size affects the image.”

4

Atelier De Bie

Carianne: “Visiting a place where multiple artists work is always inspiring. You will find different art forms and a lot of creative energy.”

5

Ada Kint

Carianne: “The studio caught my eye because Ada is still in high school but dares to show all her work in her studio. Enormously brave! Besides, I think we should give young artists like this a platform. I think it would be nice to become familiar with her work.”
