"Which studios would you visit?" In a flood of about 1500 studios, making choices can get more difficult. Therefore, not Kunstwerkt, but six participating artists solve the question. The result? An equal amount of routes along studios worth visiting. In this article textile artist Louise Limontas leads you around Anderlecht.
With a background in textile design, the work of Louise is a form of research based on the diversion of materials and techniques to be fused. This enabels her to create different patterns and materials. She creates volumes, clothing objects and ornaments whose status and use become blurred and less identifiable.
Just like Sara Pasternacki her studio is to be found in atelier 98.
Louise: "The studio of Cosaert Annelies caught my attention as she works with glass. With an interest in crafts I am curious about her practice and how the material of glass can be used and revisited with other techniques."
Louise: “The work of Nele De Paepe intrigued me as I like her approach of hiking and seeking things that cross her path during her daily life, in cities or near the sea-cost, in order to use them in her drawings.”
Louise: “V I used to go to the Academy for their ceramic studio. The place itself is very beautiful and inspiring, and they have a large pannel of disciplines such as weaving, screenprinting, wood, ceramics, drawing, sculpture,...”
During Atelier in Pictures, you can ride Blue-bike for free to visit studios. Take a train into town and then hop on a bike to visit all the studios in the area? Perfect!
