The result? A beautiful bike route passing by the participating studios, consisting of either one main route or two smaller loops of 15 kilometers each that connect seamlessly, cutting through the green surroundings of Schilde, Halle, and Wijnegem. The municipality of Schilde provides additional signage. The idea came from artists Astrid Van Drie and Luc Lingier, who also made a 'warm appeal' for mass participation in Atelier in Beeld.
A group has more impact than an individual. The larger the group of open studios, the greater the motivation of potential visitors to come and visit. The journey becomes worthwhile because there is much to see.
What I also really like about this initiative is that I suddenly have contact with 12 other artists in the area whom I didn't know before. We are all looking forward to it.
During Atelier in Beeld, you can use Blue-bike for free to visit studios. Taking the train into the city and then hopping on a bike to visit all the studios in the area? Perfect!
